Harare's Starlink Services Sold Out

Starlink services in Harare are currently unavailable, according to a recent announcement from SpaceX, the company behind the satellite internet service. This news comes after two weeks of complaints from users about slow internet speeds in the area, which have been attributed to network congestion.

Typically, Starlink users enjoy impressive download speeds between 25 to 220 Mbps, with many experiencing speeds over 100 Mbps. However, some residents have reported frustrating slowdowns, with speeds dipping as low as 1 Mbps.

In response to this congestion, SpaceX has decided to limit the number of customers in certain locations. This decision has led to additional areas like Norton, Chitungwiza, Epworth, and their surroundings also being marked as sold out on the Starlink map.

For those hoping to sign up in Harare, the message is clear:

"Starlink Residential is not available in your area. Enter your email below to be notified about future availability and product updates. If Starlink is active in your market, please visit our Roam page to order our mobile offering."

According to TechZim, the new "Sold Out" status appears to be indefinite, signaling a major change from previous updates. Previously, potential customers could place deposits while waiting for service availability, but this option has been removed, indicating a more serious capacity issue.

The areas now designated as “Sold Out” include Arcturus, Chitungwiza, parts of Concession, Dema, Epworth, parts of Glendale, Goromonzi, Harare, Juru, Manhenga, Mazowe, Melfort, Norton, Nyabira, and Ruwa.

As the demand for reliable internet continues to rise, many in Harare are left hoping for a resolution to these service challenges.
