In a move to bolster Zimbabwe's energy infrastructure and fuel security, Puma Energy has opened a new aviation fuel depot at the Robert Gabriel Mugabe International Airport. The $3 million investment was inaugurated yesterday by Energy and Power Development Minister Edgar Moyo.
Also in attendance were Transport and Infrastructure Development Deputy Minister Joshua Sacco, Energy and Power Development Deputy Minister Yeukai Simbanegavi, Puma Energy Africa CEO Fadi Mitri, and Puma Energy Zimbabwe General Manager Donatien Kadog.
Minister Moyo praised the new facility, stating that it "signifies a strategic move towards reducing supply chain disruptions" and "reinforces [Puma's] preparedness to meet the growing demands of various economic sectors serviced through the aviation industry."
He emphasized that the investment aligns with Zimbabwe's National Development Strategy 1 and efforts to create an enabling environment for economic growth, with infrastructure development being a key priority.
Deputy Minister Sacco commended Puma Energy Zimbabwe's leadership in sustainable practices, noting the company's involvement in solarization projects that contribute to decarbonization. He lauded this as an example of Puma's genuine commitment to the country's economic advancement.
Overall, the new aviation fuel depot is seen as a valuable addition to Zimbabwe's energy infrastructure, bolstering fuel security and supporting the growth of the aviation sector and broader economy in line with the nation's development goals.
